- When the Holy Family were fleeing from the wrath of Herod to Egypt a great storm overtook them and they sought refuge under a poplar tree, the leaves commenced rustling, the Blessed Virgin cursed the tree saying "Shake on for ever," from that day until the present time these leaves keep rustling. They then took shelter under a sycamore when the storm ceased the Virgin blessed the tree, and from then until now, this tree has the power to give protection in thunder and lightning storms.
