The place was supposed to be haunted and to be on the Fairies' Walk and before building the castle they were warned not to do so for a little woman dressed in white was supposed to walk along the path every night. Each night when the men had finished work they could her the tap-tap of hammers within the castle.
At any rate the castle was burned to the ground the night it was finished. The stand is still to be seen The place was sold afterwards to a man named Beatty. He resold it to a Mr. Hall who is living there now. they converted the outhouses into a dwelling house and left the stand of the castle there. It is known as "Hall's of the Burned Castle". The people around here say it was burned because it was built on the "fairies' walk". The place is in Rosnaglough about two miles from the school.
