    i have often head heard it said

    John Croarkin still resides
    Neither of these farmers is rich or owns a mint
    But both agreed they'd make some cash
    And they sowed a field of lint.
    They sowed the ground & delved it round
    With tenderness & care
    But little knew that it would cause
    A time of black despair.
    For when the pulling time came round
    And the skies above were fair
    The slender yield from off the field
    Upset the precious pair.
    Now all who wish to speculate
    This awful act should warn
    And all should take example
    From this sad case at Carn.
    And if you've money to invest
    Just buy a little "sturk"
    And it will pay you better
    Than a flax crop in Dunhirk.
