- (continued from previous page)Down the slopes of Dooskey
Came a band with heavy tread
Peaked helmets on & eyes afire
Wee Henry (Henry Rooney - died some years ago) at their head. - The following comes from the same source. Paddy Whelan - Dooskey (R.I.P.) had an arbor day for this district. The people were provided with trees to plant & lime to whitewash their houses.Shoulder your brush & join the crush
Spare neither bug nor flea
And whitewash all your houses
On this our Arbor Day.Watch Lecklevra Pat (McPhillips)
He's a curious bloke
For if he danders to the Cross (Greenan's Cross)
Around your tree he'll hoke.
(Lecklevra Pat was nicknamed the Pig.)Shoulder your brush & join the crush
And turn out to a man
To exterminate the vermin
That's round about the bran.- Informant
