The flax was stood on end on the flake and left there till it was dry. When it was dry it was taken off the flake, and made into small handfuls, and beetled on a big flat stone with a wooden beetle. Then it was tied into big bundles, and then it was left by for ten days or so. It was then scutched in the barn.Every scutcher had a stock and a handle. The flax was made into small handfuls and put over the stock and scutched with a wooden handle. When it was scutched it was tied into stones, and taken to the market.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
