- There are many ancient placenames in and around Freshford. These include:-Bohergloss:- The green road, so called becasue of the green grass which grows on each side of the road.Clashacrow - or the field of the slaughter, so called because of a battle which was fought there and after which its rivers ran with blood.Rathbeagh, where is a small rath, in which Eremon is supposed to be buried.Cluain-Tiobrad - is about two miles from Freshford.
