- Many years ago, a hurling match was played in John O Shea's field on the Moate Road, Freshford. The teams playing were Thurles and Tullaroan and there were about seventeen men in each team.
There was a great excitement at this game as the goal-keeper on the Tullaroan team was Fox Meagher and on the other team Hawk O'Brien and the people used to say the game was between the "Fox" and the "Hawk". Tullaroan won the game. The best playeres on the Tullaroan team were Fox Meagher, Don Kennedy, Jack Keoghan and Sim Walton. Jack Rochford was the best player on the Thurles team. The Tullaroan hurlers were dressed in green and white and Thurles hurlers were dressed in blue and white.
Long ago, another hurling match was played between Threecastles and Tullaroan in the still-field behind the creamery in Freshford Tullaroan again won the game. The best players on the Threecastles team was(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
