- There were many old cures long ago, but are only used to-day by the old people of Johnstown.
If a red onion is sliced and rubbed to an ear-ache, then tied in a handkerchief really cures it,
If a small vow is made on a Friday, and is kept, is a good remedy for toothaches,
If wet salt is put up in the nostrils it cures a cold,
To dry salt and put it on the vamp of a stocking and tie it around your sore throat it will cure it,
