They had no clock and they thought it was about two oclock but it was only twelve. When they came to King's Bush a big white ball rolled out in front of them and it kept rolling until it came to Foulkscourt Bridge then it opened out into a big light. The ass they had would not go on so they had to wait a long time. At last they turned the ass around and backed him past the light and then they went on.

When the Dwyers were in the Rectory they had a housekeeper. One day they went off and late that night the housekeeper heard the Avenue gates open and a carriage come in. She went to open the hall door but when she looked out there was nothing there.
