- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Kiernan's field in Keenougue. the name of the man that taught in it was Brian McCabe. in the summer months he used to come in the evenings, and in the Winter he would come at night. There would be about thirty scholars at it. Every scholar would have to take a turf with them. The teacher was from the parish of Iniskeen. The scholars had to write with the quill pen. The school was thatched with rushes. The scholars had to bring money according to their means.
There were a few people who sent their children to Magoney school and they were called soupers. There were three families who sent their children to it and brought the books and they were called Blue Book Teachers.- Bailitheoir
