- Between the years 1850 and 1860 David Clarke and his wife lived in Aughnaseda. At this time Corlatt house and farm were owned by Rev. Bleakley. Part of his farm known as Roddie's Hill came up close to Mr. Clarke's house. This particular year Roddie's Hill was planted in turnips. Two boys named Robert Whinnery and Frank McKenna - sons of two of Mr. Bleakley's labourers - were scaring the birds away from this field of turnips.
In their spare time they used to play marbles on a hard patch up the side of the field.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
