- Food in Olden Times.
The people used to eat oaten porridge at their breakfast and supper. The porridge was made very thick and before arriving they would throw some more meal in, so that you could cut it with a knife. They used butter milk when they were eating it.
They got potatoes and buttermilk for their dinner. The people used to get up in the morning at six o' clock. The tables they used were on hinges against the wall and when they had finished eating they hung it up. When they were eating their porridge they used a mug called a noggin. The mug was made of wood with a piece of wood glued on for a handle. When people were finished with the wooden mug, they would hang it up People used to carry the water in pitchers on their heads. That was the only way they had of carrying the water for their food.Bunty Gray- Bailitheoir
