Industry
The making of linen and linen garments took up much of the women's time, eighty years ago. The flax when ripe was pulled tied in bundles and placed in bog holes or holes dug for the purpose containing soft and often stagnant water. When the fibre of the flax could be separated by rubbing between the fingers it was taken up and spread on the ground to dry.
