- Cures in my District
There are many cures for illnesses and ailments of which the old people tell! For instance - "ferret's leavings" given to a child for chin-cough.
Also, a black snail rubbed on warts removes them! The snail is allowed to rot on a gooseberry bush.
Again: bathing sore eyes with cold black tea leaves relieves pain.
It is believed also in my place that the mother or father of a child going out from a home where the whooping cough is - may demand a cure from a man in the district who has a white horse.
The dock leaf cures a scorch from a nettle. The leaf of a weed Known as St. Patrick's lead will stop bleeding.
Boiled buttermilk kills a cold!
