- Local Cures
The old people believed in bowing to the New Moon and saying three Hail Marys as a preventive against toothache or to refrain from eating meat on Saturday or a man shaving on Sunday. A child born with a tooth also had the cure of the toothache but whether the child or the parents could not take any money for cures as the cure was lost if they did. Holy wells were visited for certain cures such as sciatica, pains, bad eye sight and sores. There is a well in the(continues on next page)- Collector
