- There is one holy well in the parish of Aughrim. This well is in the townland of Cloonfad. People still visit this well between the two Lady days, that is from the fifteenth of August to the eight of September, the people go round the well three times saying the Rosary and others prayer while doing so. This well is supposed to be in a field named Cooney. The old people say some person washed cloths in this well. People bring away some of the water to drink and in which to bathe sores. There are two trout to be seen in the well but everybody does not see them. There is a bush growing beside the well and people leave ribbons and other articles at the well.
