They did not want to pay them. They planned a rebellion. All the people gathered at Carrick-Shock. They all got ready. They rang the church bell with all their might. They gathered over sixty police. They kept on ringing and ringing until they had all the police gathered. Then some of the police got angry. They ran after the people. Some of the people ran down a narrow boreen. The police followed them. When they had all the police into the boreen they attacked them. Mr. Treacy said:-"Come on my boys,
Lord and fire,
