- In a shady spot on the banks of the Nore is the holy well of St. Fiacre. It is so called because it was blessed by the great St. Fiacre who spent most of his holy life in this holy spot. It is situated about three miles from the city of Kilkenny. The local school is called after this great saint. There is also a neat little graveyard near the holy well. A few years ago a beautiful cross was erected and on St. Fiacre's day and for nine days after, the Rosary is recited around this cross. This holy well is very good for curing sore eyes. The cave in which St. Fiacre lived is about one hundred yards from the well.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
