Shrove Tuesday - "Pancake Night."
The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is still an occasion for fun and merriment here. Pancakes, (from which it takes the name "Pancake night") are eaten for supper. A Ring is usually put in them and whoever gets it if he or she is un-married will be the next person to "go off" (get married).
Easter Sunday - Eggs are still the particular item of food for this day. Young people try to eat as many as they can. It is considered a great feat to take 3 or 4 eggs.
St. Peter & Paul's Day ( 29th June)- New Potatoes & White Cabbage are supposed to be on the dinner-table of every good farmer & laborer on that day plucked from their own gardens.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
