- Snow storm on 24th Feburary 1933, and on the same date 1854. Several people lost their lives this year. 1879 & 1886 Wet years. Crops lost.
End of 1879 & beginning of 1880 very heavy frost, over 9 inches of frost on land in this district.
Snow storm 1882,
Very dry summers in 1884 and 1887. Fairly dry in 1893.The old people disliked the new moon on its back with a semi-circle underneath, or partly so, and the old moon shining through it, and also a new moon comin on Saturday. They regarded it as a sign of disagreeable weather.
If the wind came from the north-west in the 4th week of March it was a sign of a dry summer.
To see the gulls and blackstairs following the plough in early winter is a sign of sever weather.
