  1. (1) In the year 1640 Cromwell knocked Kellymount house and Shot Kelly, a Roman Catholic, who was buried in Gouran. Cromwell shelled the house and there was a pond for swans found on top of the house. It was from thaat man Kelly, Kellymount got its name. The house is inhabited from that day to this by Protestants. The present family in it now is Griffin. Kellymount is north-west of Paulstown village. (See Map)
    In Kilkenny city Cromwell made a stall out of St Canice's cathedral. There was a hunt in Kilkenny at that time and there is a cave going from Dunmore to St Canice's in Kilkenny. The hounds got into the cave and next morning they were heard under St Canice's.
    Cromwell came from "Baile treasna" which is a half a mile east of Paulstown village. He proceeded
