“There lived in this parish an old cobbler and he was a very hard sleeper.”
There lived in this parish an old cobbler and he was a very hard sleeper. Often he went to bed about eight o'clock and he would not get up till two or three o'clock next evening. He was not lazy but some how or another he could not awaken. Yet in the hours he kept awake he was able to do twice as much as another man. One night he was late in coming home from the city after selling his boots. He had a heavy load and was very tired when he came home. He slept all Thursday night and the next day and kept sleeping till Sunday morning about mass time. Thinking it was only Friday he started to work. He saw many people on the way to mass. He ran out and asked him who was dead and where were they going. They said no one was dead but they were going to mass. He then found(continues on next page)- Collector
