- There are fairs held in the County Kilkenny every month, Kilkenny, Callan, Urlingford, Castlecomer, Thomastown, and Ballyragget.
About eighty years ago there were fairs held in Tullaroan, and Kilmanagh, and up to a couple of years ago there was one held twice a year in Freshford. One was called the Lamb fair, and the other was called the heifer fair.
In Kilkenny and Callan there is a special place kept for the fair, and is call the Fair Green. In Castlecomer, Urlingford, Ballyragget and Thomastown the fair is held on the Street.
At the Fair Green Gate every person selling animals. gets a ticket for which he has to pay money, a penny for a pig and a sheep, twopence for a cow and threepence for a horse.
When a person sells an animal he would give the buyer(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
