- Peter Hanratty of Lannet, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan, was famed as a nail maker. He could make thirty - six nails in a day.
- Patrick Meegan of Drumcatten, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan, was a famous rope maker, he could make quite good ones.
- About seventy years ago, the playground attached to this school was used as a bleaching green. The flax was grown and cured in the surrounding fields. It was then woven into coarse linen, and spread out to bleach. Patrick Fitzpatrick of Candlefort, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan, was my informant.
