- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Spioraid Naoim”. It was also said to be unlucky to step over the plough. It is said that in the place where a mare foals the first time, a four leaf shamrock grows. This shamrock is always dug by they who own the mare and it is planted and kept for good luck.

Hens
A crowing hen is very unlucky and is was an old custom to stone crowing hens to death. It is also unlucky for a rooster to crow before twelve o’clock midnight. When a straw is seen over a hen’s tail it is a sign that a stranger will pay you a visit soon. When a strange hen comes and stays at your house it is always unlucky.- Bailitheoir
