    old. The women went bare-footed, until they were fifteen or sixteen. Then they got a pair of nailed boots.
    When they were getting married, they got a pair of elastic boots, which sometimes lasted for ever.
    An old woman named Mrs Carroll who was over 100 years of age had only one pair of boots during her life time and left them behind her when she died. She went bare-footed all her lifetime and had fine, strong well shaped feet. She used to say to the children passing:-"It is well for you that can wear these lovely little boots"
