Raheen at the usual hour, a messenger was sent to ascertain the cause and found Father Quigley dead in Bannan's Lane. (This lane is at the Pole Bridge over the Railway line). The mule was grazing by the ditch and the bridle-rein on the priest's arm. There was no evidence of foul play. When the messenger returned to the Parish Priest of Raheen, the Priest told the messenger that he had an inspiration that Father Quigley was dead, before he had time to tell him.
He was buried in Raheen and the grave is visited to this day for cures and the earth has been removed and taken to every country under the Globe. An Apple tree marks the spot where he lived.
