- The Laipreacan

The Leipreacan is known by no other name but Leipreacan in this part of the country. He generally is seen under a mushroom or small tree One morning when my grandfather, John Walsh (deceased), was coming home from a dance, he saw what he thought was a Leipreacan in the land of Mrs. Walsh, Deerpark, Boyle. He was sitting under a tree making a pair of boots. He wore a small tight fitting coat, a very tight-fitting trousers, and a very long-shanked pair of shoes. Something tempted my grandfather to look round, and when he turned again the Leipreacan was gone.- Faisnéiseoir
