mother, who was a widow was evicted and the following poem was composed about the affair by Mrs Quinn a short time ago.
"In the year '51 a good many years ago,
Tom Minchin died suddenly and the lease dropped from land.
So Cox and D'arcy both joined hand in hand
And said they'd evict the widow Minchin
And hold her houses and land
They said if she gave up possession
They would let her in again
And in her former cowhouse from that she did remain.
Many a long night and day this widow had to moan
And work hard in her cabin upon a quarry stone
Now where are all those wicked landlords now where are all to-day.
The Cox's, D'Arcys and O'Garas are mouldering in their clay
And for it all they shall account on the General Judgment day
Once upon the property at the Minchins they dare not sneeze.
When they had to work for four-pence a day.
With straw ropes round their knees.
While many a long night they made the widow moan
When at work with her needle on the old quarry stone
