Loughglynn - A fort is a circular mound of earth enclosed by a thick hedge. Many forts are still to be seen throughout the country. The origin of these forts dates back as far as the time of the Tuatha De Dannns who were skilled in magic. When they were defeated by the Milesians they changed themselves by magic into fairies and went to live in these places. Superstition still exists in connection with them.
