- There is a well in Lissian near Ballaghaderreen and long ago the people used to bring sick horses and cattle to it. It is said that the water from the well cured them. In times gone by a water-horse was supposed to have sprung up out of it and he was seen by some of the people. The color of the horse was black and white. Nor horses or cattle are brought to the well now.
