south gable, and the back, there was a common gable for it and the dwelling house on the north side. And his reason was, that every time his birthday came round a ghostly gang of flax scutchers would spend that night in the barn scutching as they were on the night he was born and Patrick's well was polluted. The northern half Kilnamanagh is called Ballinvoher (Baile an bhothair though Tom Connolly says the correct words are Bailín a'bhothair).
