- A Ghost Story.
A story is told about two men who lived in Treanacreeve near Strokestown fifty years ago. The two men were Jamesy Hayden who lived on one side of the road and Jamesy Connor who lived on the other side right opposite.
The men were carmen bringing goods from Longford to Strokestown. Their wives never could agree and there was always some story to be told when the men would come home at night and whatever the tale of the days dispute was on one certain night the next day the two men on their way home from Longford began to argue and as the saying goes "one word borrowed another" and Hayden struck Connor on the head with his loading whip. There was lead on the butt end of the whip and as the blow was severe Connor died from the effects of it.
That very night Connor appeared to his wife and told her that he would live for twenty years more only for Hayden killed him and that he would be for that twenty(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
