    Strokestown the drivers of the first two were shot but the the third lorry turned and escaped. the first two lorries ran into the wall and the Irish rained down shots upon them from their hiding places. the had taken Lannon's house ad had bored holes in the wall so some were hidden there.
    The Irish shot Captain Peak and his men. They took the two prisoners and drowned them in the Shannon.
    One poor Black and Tan got his legs and arms blown off and he made his way on his knees to Scramogue River. Just then reinforcements arrived from Stokestown and picked him up also Captain Peak and his dead men but not a sign or a trace of the Irish did they find.
    One man by the name of John Tracey-Ashbrook, took part in this ambush. He was fired at and his hat was shot off but he was not wounded and he is alive still.
