- The fairs are generally held in Strokestown. Cattle and sheep, horse and pig fairs.
The cattle are left on the streets while the fair-green is used for the sheep.
When cattle are sold there is always a "Luck Penny" given by the sellor. It varies according to price of the beast. When buyers and sellors are satisfied they show these signs, they mark the cattle with colours usually blue, also dirt, and sometimes they nick them. They also strike hands. When cattle are bought by cattle-dealers, men have to go to the loading bank and get the cattle loaded in lorries.
Then they are paid the price(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
