On St Patrick's day the people wear shamrock on their coats in honour of St. Patrick. A lot of people get married during Shrove. On Shrove Tuesday night we make pan - cakes. On Good Friday we comemorate the death of Our Lord Jesus Christ. On May Day all the people bring in sycamore to show that Summer is coming. On St John's night the children gather the withered bushes of the farm and when night comes they are set alight. On Halloween night the children have snap - apple. An apple is hung from the ceiling by a string. Then whoever catches the apple with the teeth gets it.

Festival Customs
On Saint Stephen's day all the boys go around singing the wren. They cut a bush of holly and decorate it with ribbons and papers etc. Some have the wren or an imitation one on the bush. Generally two go together one singing the song and the other taking the money. People like to have the wren boys visit them on that day as they consider it lucky. They sing the song thus: -
