- One day a poor cripple was going to Father John power's tomb in Ross. There lived in Ross at this time a Protestant tyrant called Ned Brooks; he said to the cripple that it was useless for him to go to the tomb. The priest was coming along the road and he asked the cripple what Brooks was saying and he told him. The priest told him to go to the tomb and say the prayers and to return and throw his crutches to Brooks. The cripple did what he was told and threw the crutches to the tyrant who never again rose out of the chair he was seated in and the cripple was cured.
