- Travelling folk call at each (one) home very often. We are accustomed to some of them calling once a year and others calling very often. Some of them are poor and others not so poor. Gipses sell small articles such as mats, rugs, brushes, cans and other articles. Some people buy from them. They make some of them and buy the rest. Sometimes they are welcome. They are allowed to stay a night in each place but sometimes they stay longer. They sleep on the grass with a covering of canvas over them. The obtain their food from the inhabitants of the village where they camp. They accept anything but especially money.Some of them travel on foot but most of them in carts, vans and small waggons.
