- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)he was pulled off his horse and he received a few hard blows. When he came to himself he went on his horse and rode away. After a while he was called back and given his hat which he lost during the fight. He continued his journey and tried to overtake his comrade but he did not.
He went to bed that night and pretended his adventure to nobody. A few days later he met Maire Ní Murcúdha and she asked him why did he published from the altar about herself. She told him not to do it again or if he would that he would get more strokes than what he got that night. "It was I gave you your hat and only for me you would not be here today".
From that day off the priest never spoke a word about Maire nor was he ever bothered by her.
