The statues which decorated the ground, at Blarney came originally from Kilkenny and were finally purchased by Sir Thomas Deane.

When Deane re-erected the figure of Hercules on the grounds of his residence at Blackrock, the Cork with re-named the house "Herculaneum". One of these statues was to be seen for many years in the courtyard of a house in Deane street, now demolished to provide an approach to Brian Boru Bridge.
