    The tinkers mend tin-cans and sell them. Sometimes they sell brooches, tie-pens, soap, polish, studs, and straw-mats. They go from place to place in caravans or carts which are drawn by horses, ponies, or donkeys.
    The beggars ask for bread, meat, eggs, tea, sugar, or alms.
    The tramps that travel singly look for lodging. These bring news from other places. They generally sleep in an out-house or fix a bed for themselves in the kitchen. The people of the house give them their meals. Some people like to see them coming but others have no welcome for them.
    The O'Driscolls, O'Briens, and "Jack the Brush" are the best known "travellers" in this district. The most of them call after a wedding taking place in the locality.
