   This he thought should be the best time to look for a fairy for he had heard it said that fairies do not stay out after twelve o'clock. He walked round the great ring of earth which formed the rath but he could not see or hear anything. He was about to return home when all at once he heard a sound of tapping not much louder than the ticking of a watch. He looked round him on all sides and at last saw at the foot of a tree a little man sitting under a mushroom. The little fellow was dressed in a bright red jacked and a hat on his head with two large tastles he wore long pointed shoes. He was busy at work. He was making a shoe like one of those he wore and it was his hammer that had made the noise which Shawn had heard. Shawn fixed his eyes on the little man and without making any noise he went up to the place where he was sitting. The little man was so bus with his shoes that he did not look up at him till Shawn stretched out his hand and caught him round the body. Then he gave a great shout. But Shawn held him fast and he could not get free at last he became quiet and looked as if he could not try to get rid of Shawn. He spoke in quite a friendly way to Shawn. Look at that big black dog
