   On the strands of Ballylickey.
   Near dear old Bantry Bay.

   What pleasant times we used to have.
   On the banks of the Ovane.
   When going to spear the salmon.
   Before the early dawn.
   With splinters and with lanterns.
   Our hearts were light and gay.
   As we watched the noble river.
   As it flowed to Bantry Bay.
   III

   Lady day in August the spectacle would excel.
