- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)they sewed it with cords and a thatching needle. Whips were not made, horses were driven with a switch. Fishing was done along the shore, in order to obtain salt water fish, and shelfish was largely used as food. It was plentiful. The fishermen were able to make nets, and there was a boat builder in every harbour almost.
Flax was also spun in the district. The seed was sown in a tillage field, and at the end of July it was pulled. It was put into stagnant water. When it was taken out it was pounded tithe the "túirgín", and drawn with the "tlú" to separate the hulls from the fibre. It was opened and put on the distaff and spun with a Dutch wheel.- Bailitheoir
