    If a person was suffering from asthma, the arm was pierced with a lance. Salt mixed with pepper also cured a toothache, If a person writes his name around a patch of scurvy with the blood of a black cat, he is cured of the scurvy. Seven pieces of butter and sulpher cure the cunsy. Cold tea was rubbed to a wisp. Boiled milk and butter mixed cures a cold. Heated dock-leaves cure blisters in the feet. Bran, when heated, or brown four pressed to a sore throat cures it.
    A poultice was also made of boiled potato to cure "plucamas" or a sore throat. Rib-leaf was used to cure a bruise. Engine oil and sweet oil was used to cure a burn. A mixture of turpentine, whiskey, vinegar, camphorated oil and two eggs was good for sprains and stiffness of muscles. Black wool steeped in whiskey was good for a pain in the ear. Dandelion dried and made into tea was good for indigestion. Goose grease was good for stiffness or for sprains, and if a person had a sprained leg or hand, to hold it under a falling stream was very good for it.
