day in this parish. It is a great day for feasting.
The Assumption is celebrated on the 15th August. On that day people visit holy wells. There are two holy wells in this district. There is one in Beach near Bantry and the other is in Kealkil, Bantry. On the 15th August people flock to these wells. People were cured at the holy well at Beach. A man, aided by two crutches, visited this well and he was cured and he left his crutches behind at the well as a token.
