- The feast of Hallowe'en is celebrated on the 31st October. On that night people have parties in their houses. A currant cake is got and in it there is a stick, a rag, a pea, a bean, and a ring. The stick is to beat your husband, the rag signifies that you would be an old bachelor, the pea is for poverty, the bean is for wealth, and the ring is that you would be married.
After that people tie an apple to the ceiling and several people jump to get it whoever gets it could eat it.
An apple is also put into a dish of water and people try to get it out with their mouths.- Bailitheoir
