    of how this chapel was built. One day St. Fachna went up to the top of a little hill near Rosscarbery to read his prayer-book. When he returned home he found he had left the prayer-book behind. That night it rained very heavily and the saint was troubled about the book because he thought it would be destroyed by the rain. Next morning he went to the hill to look for the prayer-book and when he reached the place were he had left it he found a chapel had been built and on the middle of the floor of the chapel was the prayer-book. Ever since this chapel is called "Teampaillín Fachna, and every year on St. John's Eve, the 23rd of June, all the local people who have any ailments visit it. And they often stay there overnight.
    Yet, despite the fame of this saint very few children are given his name in this district. The patron saint of this parish is Saint Michael and several children are named
