The sciathóghs were used for picking potatoes and they were shaped like boats, panniers were made by sticking six or seven strong sticks into the ground; small twigs were woven in and out through these. My grandfather used to bake panniers and sciathógs and he used to sell them at the fairs.
There was a lime kiln in Maryborough a townland about a mile east of Timoleague village; the kiln was in action when the Moore's were living in Andrew Deasy's There was an old house neat the kiln where the lime was burned.
