Peg "Rebar" was Peg Sheehan, and she lived in Mill Street, in a house now owned by Mr Dan O'Donovan of Abbey Street, Timoleague. She was the only apple-dealer in Timoleague at that time. Her son "Den Lar" who is about eighty years of age is still living in Cove.
Mary, "Bake Bread" was Mary Sheehy, a cousin of Jerh. Sheehy, of Kilshinahin, Kilbrittain. She was sometimes called "Mary the War".
"Kate Kinsale" who is from Kinsale, goes begging from house to house. She comes for fair-days and remains for a week. She lodges with Mrs O'Donovan, Abbey Street.
"Whitehat" was an old man who went around begging about five years ago. He was called 'Whitehat" because he usually wore a light-coloured hat.
Calnan lived in a little house in the woods, now owned by the Convent. He did not beg in the village, but in the country houses.- Bailitheoir
